EU policies and legislation have a fundamental influence on municipalities and have had major repercussions on cities. Decisions made by the European Union have also become increasingly important for citizens’ everyday lives. Against this background, dealing with European issues at a municipal level has become an important area of work; in Nuremberg the tasks are shared by two institutions in the City of Nuremberg’s Department for Economic Affairs.
