Nuremberg offers a wide variety of events catering for all tastes. Opera or ballet in the State Theatre, children's culture and cultural events in various city districts, cabaret and so on – the programme is huge. Particularly popular: numerous music festivals such as for example "Rock in the Park", the "Bardentreffen" world music festival or the two classic open air concerts in the summer, luring over 100,000 music fans to Luitpold Grove for a festive picnic.
Nuremberg's life is colourful all year round. It is green mainly in the places where Nuremberg citizens like to spend time in the summer – in the landscaped, near-natural river meadows of the River Pegnitz, in the parks, in the Field of Experiences for all the Senses, and in one of Europe's largest and most beautifully landscaped zoos. Thanks to the good public transport network, attractive destinations, for example for surfing in the Franconian Lake District or rock-climbing in the Fränkische Schweiz, are within easy reach.
