Rock im Park (Rock in the Park)  

Nuremberg rocks! Over 85 Bands and over 40,000 visitors are expected for each of the "Rock in the Park" festivals in Nuremberg, Germany's biggest Whitsun rock festival. Diversity is the theme of the day, no one musical style rules supreme. The main stage is on the Zeppelin Field, but all hell is let loose on the other stages, too.

In 1976, tens of thousands of music fans met up on the Zeppelin Field for the first open air festival, with Santana and Chicago. Two years later, in 1978, Eric Clapton, in a legendary show with Bob Dylan, performed in front of 80,000 visitors.

Since then, rock super stars, such as AC/DC, The Who, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, the Scorpions, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne or Bon Jovi have been coming and going continually. In 1998, the Zeppelin Field hosted a tremendous show by the Rolling Stones in front of nearly 100,000 enthusiastic fans, and during the 1998 Rock in the Park festivals, Bob Dylan returned again after his first guest appearance in Nuremberg.

Today's programme includes names such as HIM, Wir Sind Helden, Green Day, Marylin Manson, Limp Bizkit, Söhne Mannheims, Red Hot Chili Peppers or Groove Armada.
