Nuremberg's musical life covers a very wide range. Regularly Nuremberg's festival calendar includes many varied events, starting with the International Nuremberg Organ Week ION, Europe's largest and oldest festival for sacred music, via "Rock in the Park" right through to the "Bardentreffen" world music /singer-songwriter festival, which every year attracts over 200,000 music fans to this free outdoor happening. The two summer classical music events of Klassik Open Air with concerts by Nuremberg's two symphony orchestras, lure over 100,000 music fans to the Luitpold Grove for a festive picnic, making this the largest event of its kind in Europe.
