The main railway station, recently lavishly refurbished, is connected to the national and international network of EC, IC and ICE trains and is used by 40 million travellers each year. From summer 2006, the new high speed (ICE) track between Nuremberg and Munich will shorten the travelling time between these two major Bavarian centres to just over an hour.
