Nuremberg Tourism Booms
Increase in arrivals and overnight stays in 2018
A total of 2 million guests stayed in Nuremberg last year – an increase of 7.5 percent over the previous year. The resulting rise in the number of overnight stays was even higher, growing 8.5 percent to 3,6 million. This is also due in part to the fact that 2018 was a strong trade fair year, with numerous international exhibitions and conventions.
Destination for the whole year
The new growth in overnight stays in the summer months in particular are a confirmation of the success of marketing activities, which have been funded in large part by tourism funds which have been made available for the last years. During the course of the year July held the top position with 360,084 overnight stays. December is ranked second with 339,534 overnight stays. Nuremberg is an unforgettable experience for everyone either in summer or in winter time.
A look at the numbers shows that Germany, with around 2.4 million overnight stays (+ 7.4 percent) and a market share of 65.2 percent remains the most important market for Nuremberg. Another gratifying development is the growth of overnight stays of guests from abroad: They now total 1.2 million, a plus of 10.8 percent. As in the previous year, the average length of stay was 1.8 nights. The average bed occupancy rate was 53 percent, which is higher than in 2017.
