Finding qualified employees

Nuremberg has motivated and well-trained employees. Outstanding schools, training institutions and local universities train young people to a high standard of qualifications.

A few of the possible ways of finding qualified employees are shown below.

Nuremberg Labor Agency

The Nuremberg Labor Agency is a federal organization that provides free help in finding suitable employees and information about possible financial support.

Short-time work and short-time compensation: a special german labour market instrument

On temporary lack of work (e.g. due to a temporary decrease of orders) you do not have to lay off your staff. Under special circumstances you can launch short-time work and get compensation. This includes direct compensation for your staff and your company (e.g. refund of some payroll taxes). In many cases you can get additional allowances for qualification and training of your short-time workers.

Please don´t hesitate to ask your local english speaking specialist on this topic Mr. Reiner Hollerung.

German social security system

The social security insurance system provides extensive protection for employees and guarantees social security in society.

The social security system covers:

  • health insurance
  • nursing care insurance
  • pension insurance
  • unemployment insurance
  • accident insurance

The social security insurance contributions are paid jointly by the employer and employee, except for the statutory accident insurance scheme. Accident insurance contributions are paid in full by the employer. This means the employer must allow for the employer’s share of social insurance contributions, which is some 20 percent on top of the employee’s annual salary.

Registration of employees

A company requires a company registration number as soon as it engages an employee. The Central Registration Number Service of the Federal Labor Agency in Saarbrücken is responsible for the nationwide issue and updating of company registration numbers. Please do not forget to apply for a number within two weeks.
