Nuremberg’s power electronics industry develops solutions and services for the automotive industry, electrical engineering, information and telecommunications, drive systems, automation, mechanical engineering, and medical engineering.

The Nuremberg region with its power electronics cluster is a major research location:

  • Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Center for Power Electronics (4 chairs),
  • Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg, Power Electronics Department and Competence Center ELSYS,
  • Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology (IISB), Erlangen
  • Fraunhofer Center for Automotive Power Electronics and Mechatronics (ZKLM) based in etz, Nuremberg, as part of IISB.
