Peace Banquet 2004

After the great success of the Peace Banquet two years ago the prizewinners of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award 2003 – Teesta Setalvad and Ibn Abdur Rehman – presented their projects in India and Pakistan during a charity event which took place on Saturday, October 9, 2004, in the ‘Historischer Rathaussaal‘ of the City of Nuremberg.

The aim of the Peace Banquet, which is located in each year between the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award ceremony, is to pay tribute to the engagement of the prizewinners and to underline the lasting effect of the prize.

The award wants to give the prizewinners the courage to continue their work and their commitment. But it is not only an idealistic support, the prize also includes a financial assistance, which is essential for humanitarian projects. Therefore the proceeds / the net profit of the charity drive will be donated to two human rights projects in India and Pakistan. These projects want to foster sustainable peace and human rights politics in the region of the Indian subcontinent, which is plagued by several conflicts.
