Hina Jilani

Hina Jilani was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1953. She is a lawyer and established Pakistan’s first all-women’s law firm in 1980. She was the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders for eight years. She was appointed to United Nations Fact Finding Missions several times.

Awards:

In 1999 Hina Jilani was awarded the Human Rights Award by "Human Rights First" (formerly known as the "Lawyers Committee for Human Rights") along with her sister Asma Jahangir. In 2000 she was honoured with the Amnesty International Genetta Sagan Award for Women’s Rights.
